This excellent, high status sword cane has a heavy silver handle, engraved with the owners’ initials and hallmarked for London, 1860.
The 585mm blade has a flat spine and single fuller on both sides, giving it a T-section that tapers to a diamond section, single edge with spear point. The blade is in good condition, with age related tarnish and marks. The original leather bumper is present at the base of the ricasso.
The blade fits snugly into the body of the cane. The cane has a silver collar and a brass and steel ferrule. The cane is in overall excellent condition with marks consistent with its age. A repaired crack is almost invisible and the body of the cane is strong and rattle free.
This is a great example of a mid-19th Century Victorian gentleman’s’ sword cane.
