A superb, unissued British WW1 P1907 Bayonet for the SMLE Rifle.
The 43cm single edged blade is in good condition with an even salt and pepper patina and is marked on the ricasso with the British broad arrow, bend test and three different Enfield inspection marks. The reverse ricasso bears a crown over GR (Georgius Rex) above 1907 and the date mark for February 1918.
The wooden grips are good and the spring mechanism works well. The tang of the bayonet is marked with the letters “A,” “W” and a third mark which I have not been able to identify. The bayonet comes complete with its original No1 MkII black leather scabbard with blued steel mounts and tear-drop frog stud. The throat and chape are marked “RE.”
This is a great collectors’ bayonet.
