This impressive cannon has a cast iron barrel 46.5 inches / 118 cm long and a bore of 2.25 inches / 5.5 cm. The cannon sits on a wooden truck with cast iron wheels. The total length is 51.5 inches / 131 cm and stands 30 inches / 76 cm high when the barrel is elevated. The truck is 22 inches / 56 cm wide and the wheels have a diameter of 9.75 inches / 25 cm.
The barrel is un-plugged and the touch hole is open. We are unsure as to whether this was a working naval cannon or whether it was a large signalling cannon. Either way we strongly advise against any attempt to fire it as this would be both potentially dangerous and illegal without the necessary firearms license.
This cannon may be purchased without the need for a firearms licence as a decorative item.
