Antique root-ball sword cane with an attractive diagonally ridged thick silver collar. The collar is not hallmarked but tests positive for 70%-90% silver.

The 638mm blade tapers to a needle-sharp point. The superbly balanced blade is in great condition with a pleasing dark patina. The blade was most likely blued at one time but has faded to an even, dark grey colour. The blade has a 3-quarter length narrow fuller on one side.

The blade sheathes snugly within the body of the cane and is held firmly.

The bamboo root ball handle of the cane has age and use related wear and is in excellent condition. The cane has a well-worn brass and steel ferrule. The wear to the ferrule indicates that the cane was in regular use as a walking stick.

The cane is in excellent condition and is without cracks or damage. There are a few minor dings and some wear to the silver collar consistent with its age and use.

Total length 915mm.
