British WW1 Pattern 1907 bayonet made in 1918 by Sanderson of Sheffield.

The 432mm single-edged blade has a long narrow fuller and rounded spine. The edge was factory sharpened. The blade retains its factory edge and blued ricasso and is in good condition with some small patches of tarnish and very shallow pitting. The pitting is so shallow that most of it cannot be felt when running a finger over it.

The ricasso is marked with a crown, the pattern date 1907 and the date of manufacture 4 ’18. The Sanderson makers’ name is stamped at the base of the blade.

The obverse ricasso bears a bend test stamp, War Department arrow and four Enfield inspection and re-issue stamps along with a date stamp for 1938.

The crosspiece, muzzle ring and pommel retain their blued finish. The pommel is stamped with 2 WA or WH. The press-stud catch is in perfect working order. The grip scales have use related dings.

The bayonet is complete with its black leather scabbard with a teardrop frog stud. The scabbard is in good condition. The steel locket and chape retain their original blueing. There are some small dents to the locket. The stitching is intact and strong and the bayonet sheathes smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.

This is a good example of a WW1 pattern 1907 bayonet that was re-issued in 1938 so may have seen service in both World Wars.
