British No 4. MKII* spike bayonet made between 1942 and 1944. The spike was made by Prince-Smith & Stells (P. S. & S. Ltd) of Keighly, Yorkshire, while the socket block was made by Viners Ltd. The bayonet was assembled by P. S. & S. Ltd.
The left side of the socket block is stamped with the pattern designation and the maker/assembler’s details, P. S. & S. Ltd. A War Department arrow is stamped to the left of the pattern designation.
The right-hand side of the block is deeply stamped with the socket block maker’s mark, VNS, for Viners Ltd.
The bayonet is complete with its Mk I scabbard.
