As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
These scarce bayonets were made for use with the Sten Mk V sub machine gun. Originally, they were also intended for the Lee Enfield No.4 rifle but after incidents involving rounds hitting the muzzle ring they were only issued with this rifle for parade purposes.
The No7 Mk 1 Land service bayonet was designed in 1944 and a total of only 330,000 were produced. The design was perfected by the Wilkinson Sword Co., who produced 1,000 bayonets in 1944 and subsequent production was carried out by four others makers, Elkington, Poole, BSA & Newport, from 1945 until 1948.
This bayonet was made at the British Small Arms (BSA) factory in Small Heath, Birmingham. BSA made examples are scarce.
The bayonet’s innovative design with its unique swiveling pommel allowed it to be both bayonet and fighting knife with deep finger grooves in the hilt which is made of resin impregnated cloth called Paxolin.
The 207mm clip point blade has a deep single fuller on both sides, is in excellent condition, retaining its original polished finish. The ricasso is stamped with the bayonet’s designation “No.7 Mk 1/L.” The obverse ricasso bears the BSA wartime dispersal code, M47A.
The swivel pommel is in perfect working order and retains its original black finish with mild use related wear. The block is stamped with the Government Broad Arrow mark and the BSA dispersal code. The Paxolin grips are in very good condition.
The bayonet is complete with its No.5 scabbard in very good condition. The top of the scabbard is stamped with a Broad Arrow mark and the frog stud bears an Enfield factory stamp.
This is a scarce and highly collectable bayonet in great condition.
