As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
British WW2 Production No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet. Wilkinson. S294. #2607008
Scarce wartime production No.5 bayonet for the No.5 Mk 1 Lee Enfield. The No.5 carbine had a shorter barrel and was lighter in weight, purposely made for airborne troops in the European theatre of World War II. Despite its initial purpose, the No.5 carbine saw most of its service in post war colonial conflicts such as the Malayan Emergency, earning it the nickname “Jungle Carbine.”
The Wilkinson Sword Company received the first government contract in December 1943, with a second contract in March 1944.
The 200mm clip-point Bowie blade has a single edge and long single fuller below the rounded spine. The blade is in excellent condition with minimal use-related marks. The ricasso retains its original black paint and is stamped with the Wilkinson wartime dispersal code, S294 above WSC. The obverse ricasso is stamped with a bend test X, War Department Broad Arrow and a faint inspection mark.
The wrap around wooden grip scales are in good condition and are held tightly in place by the two screws. The press stud is in perfect working order.
The bayonet is complete with its scabbard with a blackened brass mouthpiece. The scabbard retains its original black finish and is stamped with a government arrow at the top and on the frog stud.
This is an excellent example of the famous British Jungle Carbine bayonet.
