This Austrian produced bayonet was made under contract for the Chilean army for use with their 7mm model 1912 Mauser rifles and carbines. These bayonets were made for only one year, between 1912 & 1913.
The 251mm single-edged blade has a flat spine above a single fuller and terminates in a spear point. The blade is in excellent condition. The edge is unsharpened.
The ricasso is stamped with the makers mark, OE over WG for Oesterreichsche Waffenfabrik-Gesellschaft of Steyr, Austria.
The polished steel hilt and hardwood grip scales are in great condition. The beaked pommel is stamped with the serial number F29723. The press stud mechanism works perfectly.
The bayonet is complete with its blued steel scabbard which is in good condition. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
