As you know, President Trump has decided that all USA citizens must pay import taxes on any items bought from overseas. He has withdrawn the $800 pre-tax allowance on imports and has also cancelled the exemption for antiques.
The amount of import tax payable is dependent on the country of manufacture of the item, NOT where it was bought/imported from.
For example,
The tariff on UK made items is 10% of the total amount, including the shipping fee.
On items manufactured in mainland Europe, the tariff is 15%.
Some countries incur a much higher percentage.
President Trump has insisted that these fees be paid BEFORE the item is imported, or the parcel will be refused entry into the US.
This basically means that Bygone Blades has to collect the US import tax from you and submit it to the carrier, who in turn pay the US customs.
After you have made your purchase, you will receive a separate invoice for the new import tax specific to the item purchased. This will need to be paid before your purchase is shipped.
Chinese Shanxi Arsenal Refurbished Type 30 Bayonet. #2410011
This is quite a rare bayonet. Between 1929-1935, the Shanxi Arsenal in China refurbished Japanese Type 30 bayonets. These refurbished bayonets were then used with the Shanxi 6-5 infantry rifle, a close copy of the Japanese Arisaka rifle. Around 100,000 Shanxi infantry rifles were made, some accompanied by newly produced, Chinese made bayonets, the rest with Chinese refurbished Japanese Type 30 bayonets. A refurbished Type 30 bayonet similar to this one is featured on page 425 of Raymond Labar’s book, “Bayonets of Japan.”
The 395mm single-edged blade has a deep, single fuller below the flat spine. The ricasso is stamped with the original Japanese maker marks, a Nagoya Army Arsenal mark and the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works mark. The blade has a factory sharpened edge and was re-blued when refurbished.
The crosspiece with hooked quillon and 14mm muzzle ring were re-blued along with the pommel. The original Japanese serial number on the pommel was polished out before re-blueing and is barely legible.
The wooden grip scales were replaced during refurbishment and nuts & bolts were used to secure the replacement hardwood grips.
This is a rare Chinese refurbished Type 30 bayonet in excellent condition. An interesting addition to any Arisaka bayonet collection.
