This bayonet is a late production long tanged version of the Czech VZ-58 bayonet made in 1983 for use with the Czech VZ-58 assault rifle. The full-length tang that extends past the grip scales and the addition of a lower crosspiece extension differentiate this variant from the earlier production short tanged model. The last photo illustrates the main differences between the long and short tang variants.
The phosphatised 174mm single-edged blade has a flat spine above a deep single fuller. The blade has a 45mm upper edge and terminates in a spear point. The ricasso is stamped F7941 and the belly of the ricasso is stamped 092. The obverse ricasso is blank.
The blade is in unissued, near mint condition and is unsharpened, retaining its original factory squared edge.
The locking mechanism is crisp and in excellent working order. The composite grip scales are in excellent condition and are secured firmly to the full-length tang with two rivets.
The bayonet is complete with its tan leather scabbard. The scabbard is in excellent condition.
