This WW2 German K98 long dress bayonet was made by E. u. F Horster of Solingen.
The 250mm single-edged blade is in mint condition and is unsharpened. The blade retains its original leather washer.
The ricasso bears the maker’s mark of E.u.F. Horster of Solingen.
The black Bakelite grip scales are held firmly in place by two plated rivets. The chequered scales are in excellent condition. The cross-piece and bird-beak pommel are in very good condition and retain their plating. The press-stud locking mechanism is in good working order.
There is a tiny amount of movement between the blade and hilt. This is not uncommon with these dress bayonets.
The bayonet is complete with its black steel scabbard. The scabbard is in good condition with minor wear and some small bubbling under the paint. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a very good example of a German WW2 K98 dress bayonet.
