This post WW2 fighting knife was made by Rehwappen of Solingen, Germany. The knife probably dates to the 1960-1970's. I have seen many such knives being sold as WW2 items but the Rehwappen, Solingen logo was not introduced until 1949.
The 120mm double-edged blade is in excellent condition. The blade has a raised medial ridge giving it a flattened diamond cross-section and terminates in a spear point. The ricasso bears the post 1949 maker’s logo, Rehwappen, Solingen. The obverse ricasso is stamped “Rostfrei.”
The dagger’s hilt is made up of a brass crosspiece with ball finials with a hardwood bolster and stacked bone and ebony disks. A final hardwood disk finishes the grip and an aluminium pommel holds everything securely in place. The blade is firm in the hilt.
The brown leather scabbard is in very poor condition. The leather has perished and is fragile with sections missing along the seam. The stitching has separated.
This is a very sturdy and well made little dagger. The knife itself is in very good condition.
