Scarce and original pre-WW2 German K98 dress bayonet letter opener.
These were made as patriotic desk pieces.
The 136mm single edged blade has a thin single fuller on each side and a flat spine. The blade terminates in a spear point and is in good condition.
The hilt is in good condition with some very mild discolouration and shallow pitting to the flattened birds head pommel. The Bakelite grip scales are in good condition and are firmly attached by two rivets.
The knife is complete with its black steel scabbard with a leather lining. The scabbard is in good condition and the knife sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within.
This is an interesting and scarce pre WW2 patriotic souvenir letter opener made in the build up to WW2.
