The Badek (or Badik) is a dagger from Indonesia, it is characterized by its heavy, single edge blade with a straight back and up-curving edge and its pistol grip hilt.

This Badek originates from Sulawesi and has a rare carved hilt in the form of a man’s head. The 258mm heavy steel blade is in good condition with minor age related tarnish and is clearly marked by the forger. The blade retains a sharp edge.

The carved wood pistol grip hilt has a horn or dark wood collar and has a lovely honey patina. The wooden scabbard has dark wood highlights and an incised geometric pattern and stylised floral motif.

Total length 42cm. In overall good condition with minor wood chips on the scabbard.
