The Spanish Model 1941 bolo bayonet was developed during WW2. While Spain was officially neutral, the post-Civil War anti-communist sentiment in the country led to the Spanish government offering Hitler the services of a large volunteer force to fight on the Eastern Front, most notably, during the siege of Leningrad. The new M1941 bayonet was issued to these troops along with the Model 1943 8mm Mauser rifle.
The 250mm bolo blade has a deep single fuller below a rounded spine and terminates in a spear point. The single-edged blade is in very good condition and retains a sharp fighting edge.
The ricasso bears the crowned FN Toledo maker’s mark. The obverse ricasso is stamped with the serial number 6966 P.
The crosspiece and pommel are in excellent condition and retain their original black finish. The press-stud mechanism is in crips working order.
The knurled walnut grips are in excellent condition and are held securely in place by two barrel screws.
The bayonet is complete with its matching serial numbered scabbard. The scabbard is in excellent condition and retains its original finish. The top of the scabbard is stamped 6966 P. The bayonet sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is an excellent example of the Spanish M1941 bolo bayonet that saw service along-side the German army in Russia during WW2.
