This is a genuine antique Zulu cowhide shield (Isihlangu).
The cowhide measures 78cm x 48cm and the shield has a total length of 101cm including the staff.
The staff is decorated with soft fur that is brown and buff in patches (although it has faded due to its age).
Genuine antique Zulu Isihlangu (pronounced Isi-shlangu) are rarely available. This one will be a great centre-piece of any Anglo-Zulu War collection.
