Zulu Stabbing Spear made famous by the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.
The 232mm forged blade has a flattened diamond section with raised medial ridge. The blade is 27mm at its widest and is in great condition with a wonderful patina.
The blade is secured firmly within the haft and palm strips were woven around it to strengthen the bond. The palm binding is in excellent condition.
The 543mm haft has a wonderful patina and flares moderately towards the end.
This Iklwa has a total length of 776mm.
This is an interesting example of a Zulu stabbing spear. The iklwa is well made and strong with dimensions that are shorter than most, making it lighter and more easily manoeuvrable. A fearsome weapon in the hands of a Zulu warrior. It will make a great addition to any collection.
