The 830mm thrusting blade is of dumbbell form with a short, wide single fuller on both sides and a flat spine tapering to a spear point. The blade is in near mint condition and etched with foliate scrollwork surrounding the Georgian crown and King George V Emperor of India cypher above a laurel and palm wreath. The obverse bears foliate scrollwork surrounding the Georgian crown and coat of arms above a wreath and bow. The ricasso is etched with the cutler’s name “Walter Locke & Co. Ltd; Calcutta, Lahore & Delhi.” The obverse ricasso bears a brass proof stud. The blade is firm in the hilt.

The steel bowl guard is of 1897 pattern and bears the GRI cipher of George V, Emperor of India amidst a pierced foliate design. The plating is in generally good condition with areas of loss and tarnish on the edges. The crosshatched steel back strap has an oval pommel and rounded tang nut. The fish skin grip is in good condition and the triple strands of twisted wire binding are intact.

The brown leather covered field scabbard is in good condition for its age and service. There are scuffs and marks consistent with use and the frog strap is worn and has damage on the end. The leather of the scabbard remains strong with all the stitching intact. The sword sheaths and draws well and is held firmly in the scabbard.
