This is a great example of an early 20th Century Burmese Dha.
The 420mm blade has a very sharp single edge. The flat spine is 7mm thick at the shoulder with a distal taper down to 0.8mm at the point. The blade is 24mm at the forte, widening to 32mm before the hatchet point.
The spine is inset with a piece of brass and the blade is decorated with thin incised lines and wave-like punch marks. The sharp blade is in great condition with faint scratches along the blade.
The blade is held firmly in its wooden hilt. The hilt is wrapped with twisted iron wire and has a copper bolster and pommel cap.
The sword is complete with its wooden scabbard. The scabbard is in good condition and is decorated with bands of brass. A faded orange cord is wrapped around the scabbard and would have been used to “wear” the sword. The sword sheathes and draws smoothly and is held firmly within the scabbard.
This is a great little Burmese Dha.
