This vintage Burmese Dha probably dates to the 1960-1980s.
The 640mm single-edged blade has a flat spine incised with horizontal lines and inset with a rectangle of brass. The blade is stamped with a maker’s mark and a pattern of wave-like lines at the waist and towards the broad, hatchet point.
The blade is in good condition with minor scratches and faint forging marks. The edge is very sharp.
The hilt of the Dha is of turned wood completed with a brass bolster and pommel cap. The blade is firm in the hilt.
The Dha is complete with its original wooden scabbard bound with woven plant fibre and a faded cord.
