This 19th Century Indian Talwar is from Rajastan and is in excellent all-round condition.

The heavy, 680mm curved blade has a flat, un-tapered spine, terminating in a short false edge and hatchet point. The blade has double fullers, one being little more than an incised line below the spine, the other is wider and deeper.
The blade is marked behind the false edge on both sides with a row of geometric lines and dots, possibly indicating the armoury which manufactured it. The blade is in excellent condition.

The steel baluster form hilt has ornate languets and lotus flower finials on the crosspiece. The steel disk pommel is finished with a radial sun disk and pierced, skull crusher. The hilt is bright and clean.
